Episode 24: Having some Real Talk with Heather Caplan

April 13, 2020

In this episode I speak with Heather Caplan, RD. Heather is a weight-inclusive non diet dietitian in the Washington, DC area who not only works in the areas of eating disorder awareness, advocacy and treatment she also is working to educate and train other dietitans and health care providers in weight inclusive treatment.  In 2018 Heather founded WIND -Weight Inclusive Nutrition and Dietitics.  The (WIND) movement was created to bring dietitians, in all areas of practice, together for community, education, and connection. WIND events and resources are centered around supporting inclusive care models and treatment practices, and increasing access to respectful care for all. We are here for every body. Heather also has a wonderful informative podcast called RD Real Talk where she is “keeping it real” with other RDs.

In this conversation Heather and I chat about her podcast, WIND, the building of community in weight inclusive care as well as the divisiveness that has been popping up.  We talk about the running, yoga, making career choices and soooo much more!  I really enjoyed spending time talking with Heather and I hope you do as well.
