Paige Smathers, RDN, CD is a registered dietitian nutritionist in private practice and host of the Nutrition Matters Podcast whose work revolves around helping people heal their relationships with food and their body. She specializes in chronic dieting, addiction recovery nutrition, eating disorders and family feeding dynamics. In her spare time, she can be found exploring the outdoors and making delicious food with her husband, two young daughters and her dog named Boone. Gerry Kasten loves food – it empowers all he does. For nearly 30 years Gerry has been enhancing people’s lives with practical and pragmatic advice on how to enjoy the deliciousness of food in order to improve their health. It’s his passion for advocacy that led him be a trailblazer in nutrition science, culinary arts, teaching and media. Gerry exemplifies the dedication to the profession and ability to chart new directions in the field of dietetics and received the Ryley-Jeffs award, the highest honour of the Board of Dietitians of Canada.

Bethany Wheeler, MS, RD, LD is a dietitian specializing in eating disorders, body image and sports nutrition through social and health justice lenses and whose practice philosophies include Health at Every Size (R), weight inclusivity, body autonomy and self-compassion. She is also the owner of B. Wheeler Nutrition, LLC in Sandy Springs, Ga. Bethany believes diversity is valuable and that all forms of diversity (size, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, ability, immigration status, age, class, etc) need to be recognized and honored. Bethany holds a BS in Dietetics and a MS in Applied Exercise and Health Science. Prior to opening her practice, she worked at Kennesaw State University where she was a founding member of their eating disorder treatment team and provided outpatient nutrition therapy for students including NCAA and club level athletes. She is currently a member of the Association for Size Diversity and Health (ASDAH), Eating Disorder Registered Dietitians and Professionals (EDRDPRO) and the International Federation of Eating Disorder Dietitians (IFEDD).
After our conversation Bethany wanted to add the following:

JULIE SWEENEY is a client-centered, solution-focused counsellor who specializes in supporting women in finding freedom for themselves. Julie offers openness, honesty, and a willingness to be part of your journey in a way best suited to your needs.
Through a HAES-based lens aimed at helping clients feel less alone in their struggles with body image, Julie offers women the opportunity to develop new skills and ways of thinking. Outside of her specialty with body image and self-esteem, she also works with clients experiencing anxiety, focusing on self-care and changing negative coping habits. Julie works with clients one-on-one, in workshops, and in groups – both in person and online.
Julie enjoys helping people become aware, gain insight, and move into action to create lasting change. You would be a fit for her work if you’re interested in the change process and taking action toward making space for new energy in your life.
Today we talked to Julie about her personal story, how she came to HAES, how she approaches this with her clients. We also talked about compassion fatigue and how to manage it.

Fiona is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Director of both The Mindful Dietitian, & Body Positive Australia. She has been practising for over 15 years primarily in the areas of eating behaviour, eating disorders, body image, sports nutrition & education/training. Fiona is a committed Non Diet Dietitian, and is passionate about supporting & educating Health Professionals to develop skills and insight into working with clients from a weight-inclusive, heart centered lens. She is also host of the Podcast “The Mindful Dietitian” and a Sports Dietitian, working with emerging professional dancers at The Australian Ballet School. Fiona is a dedicated mindfulness practitioner and Yoga Teacher, bringing a particular emphasis on mindful eating and the intersection of food environment, eating psychology and body image into her work and training. She has trained in MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction), MSC (Mindful Self Compassion)and MB-EAT (Mindfulness Based Eating Awareness Training). Fiona is guest lecturer within the Melbourne-based Dietetics courses across four Universities within the areas of eating behaviour, Body Image, counselling skills and the Non Diet Approach.

Vincci Tsui is a former bariatric dietitian turned Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor and Health At Every Size advocate. She is passionate about helping people find peace and freedom in their relationship with food and with their body, so that they can let go of "perfection" and get more out of life. Ultimately, she is on a mission to prove that it is possible to improve health without focusing on weight.
